The leather is manufactured and printed in one of the top tannery groups in Italy. They supply some of the printed leather to leading brands in the world such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Hermes.
As such, the tannery is very focussed on sustainability and governance.
- Energy sustainability
The Group renovates its plants on a continuous basis. In energy terms, the plan is to self-generate 50% of the electricity used in production by means of a solar panels system. They aim to achieve this goal in the next 2 years.
- Environmental sustainability
All the Group tanneries are connected to the central treatment plant in Santa Croce sull’Arno, the number one structure in Europe in terms of size and performance. Alongside production there is also the important pre-processing and recycling.
- Sustainability governance
LIFE PROJECT: The tannery that supplies the Alussa Printed Leather was one of the first tanneries to believe in technological innovation for alternative production processes to reduce pollution. Over the years it has participated in European-level research projects such as “LIFE”, in partnership with the University of Pisa and ENEA, achieving innovative results.
